Lakeshore foundation is a beautiful fitness compound located right outside the city ofBirmingham, AL. Lakewood was established to help people with disabilities be as active as they could in sport and life. Once the war started they created Operation Lima Fox Trot to support our wounded warriors. With help from the community Lakeshore was able to build a small village of cottages on the grounds to house warriors who attend their sports camps from all over the country. The following camps are scheduled for this year.
Operation Night Vision May 29 – June 2, 2013
This camp is for injured military personnel with visual impairment or blindness.
Operation Down Home July 10-14, 2013
Is for the entire family of the injured so they can be exposed to recreational sports opportunities.
Operation Alpha August 7-11, 2013
Is designed to appeal to recently severely injured servicemen and women who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. It offers multiple sports and recreation activities.
Operation Rise & Conquer September 25-29, 2013
This camp is an outdoor recreation program held at Lake Martin, Alabama.
Is headquartered in Mercersburg, PA and is the newest chapter of Disabled Sports USA. They provide a healthy environment where wounded warriors can build confidence.
Winter Sports Program – Two Top provides alpine skiing and snowboard during the winter at Whitetail Resort, PA.
Spring/ Summer Sports – They offer fly fishing, kayaking and waterskiing in the summer months and do a big fishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay each spring.
